While the Homestay Program isn’t designed for financial gain, there is some remuneration, outlined below, to help cover costs.

Your compensation depends on the meal options agreed upon with your student in advance. Typically, you will receive $310 per week for students over 18. This amount covers all meals except weekday lunches. Rates will vary for students under 18 and if you include weekday lunches. If you opt not to provide meals at all, the standard rate is $230 per week.

Talkabout Homestay ensures you receive your payment weekly, directly into your nominated bank account.

It’s important to note that these prices already include gas, electricity, and internet access.

In most cases, hosting up to two students is considered non-taxable income, although it may have implications for pensioners.
