Perth families, are you ready to open your home to a student from around the world?

Learn about the hosting application process.

Applying to Become
a Host:

1. Apply Online

Start by completing our online application. Provide as much information as possible. We’ll ask about your family, pets, and student preferences. Our aim is to find the perfect match for both you and the student. After a successful application, you’ll receive a welcome email.

2. Schedule an Interview

We’ll get in touch with you to arrange a suitable time for an in-home visit.

3. Collect Documentation

Every permanent member of the household who is over 18, will require a Police Clearance. If you wish to host students who are aged under 18 years, every adult member of the household will also require a Working with Children Card. Both are available from the Post Office. We can also provide application forms at discounted rates.

4. Update Your Insurance

Ensure your insurance covers students’ belongings and includes a Public Liability component. If necessary, we can help you obtain a custom Homestay Insurance policy.

5. Interview

Meet with a Talkabout Homestay representative at your home.

6. Find a Student

We’ll contact you when we believe we’ve found a student that matches your preferences. You can then decide whether to accept.
