While the Homestay Program isn’t designed for financial gain, there is some remuneration, outlined below, to help cover costs.

Your compensation depends on the meal options agreed upon with your student in advance. Typically, you will receive $330 per week for students over 18 (2025 rates). This amount covers all meals except weekday lunches. Rates will vary for students under 18 and if you include weekday lunches. If you opt not to provide meals at all, the standard rate is $250 per week.

It’s important to note that these prices already include gas, electricity, and internet access.

In most cases, hosting up to two students is considered non-taxable income, although it may have implications for pensioners.
